An extraordinary encounter with the Smaller Wood Nymph (Ideopsis gaura perakana).

 

It was only during the earlier part of the day that I was photographing this species from far above the tree and just as I was about to go the Ladies, I saw this lovely Ideopsis feeding at the railings. It was just there flying and feeding around the same place the whole afternoon.

 

I took all the photos that I wanted and could not resist wanting to lift it up after that. I tried slowly and indeed it came up to my sweaty finger. It was such a delight to be able to look at it so closely and to admire its beauty!
